• Question: Is the septum in the heart the same as the septum in the nose?

      Hi @Boonberry,
      Thank you for your interesting question. A septum is a wall that divides a cavity (like in the heart) or structure (like the nose) into smaller ones.
      There are two septums in the heart – the interatrial septum which is a wall of tissue which separates the right and left atria of the heart or the interventricular septum which is a wall separating the left and right ventricles of the heart. The nasal septum is a cartilage wall which separates the right and left nostrils from one another. Therefore, their purposes are the same but, they are different to one another in structure.
