      I love this question.

I agree, playdough has very little to do with science but we can loose ourselves in it but i have had so much fun with them that i thought it would be a good idea to use them as part of a teaching tool.

From my experinece, children learn best when they are having fun and when they are amongst friends. I had planned that with the playdough, i would run many classes making models of the human heart. In this way i can teach my class the anatomy of the heart: The confusing names of the different chambers of the heart and the direction which blood flows through the heart. By making the model of the heart with playdough, they can talk about it with their friends while making it, introducing learning, and they can take it home to show mum and dad what they have made at school and hopefully teach mum and dad (uusing their model) the anatomy of the heart.

Hope that anwers your question. Keep on asking, it is the best way to learn.
