Triglycerides are the main form of fat that can be found in our diet. Triglycerides can be found in cooking oil, meat and diary products. After a meal, the level of triglycerides in the blood rises for it is used as energy or stored in fat cells for later use.

Triglycerides is the main form of stored energy in the body. If you eat more calories than you can burn, the excess calories are stored as triglycerides in fat cells.

Continuous high triglyceride level will increase your risk of heart disease and stroke.

Please see below for what is classed a s normal and high level of triglycerides.

•Normal — Less than 150 milligrams per deciliter (mg/dL), or less than 1.7 millimoles per liter (mmol/L)

      •Borderline high — 150 to 199 mg/dL (1.8 to 2.2 mmol/L)
      •High — 200 to 499 mg/dL (2.3 to 5.6 mmol/L)

      •Very high — 500 mg/dL or above (5.7 mmol/L or above)

Regular exercise, losing weight, reduce sugar intake and cut down on calory intake can all help control triglyceride level.control triglyceride level
