      Mutation is any change from what’s normally present. In population genetics, this is a change from what we see in the overall population. For example, in the DNA we normally see several changes, that affect both the the structure and function of DNA. These variations include, single nucleotide polymorphisms, copy number variations (deletion or insertion of a segment of the DNA, duplication of a segment of the DNA) etc. If you need more information, then please let me know.
